54: My telegram No.288 Nakagawa called this morning and informed Superintending Consul that he had been instructed by Japanese special mission that he was to resign from his position as adviser to the Council as and from the day on which the Japaness notification of action to be taken against the con- cession was issued. He was given to understand that this notification would be issued on the morning of June 14th. Nakagawa stated that he was accordingly closing down his office as and from tomorrow evening.

Repeated to Foreign Office No. 215 Tokyo No. 132 [Shanghai please pass to Tokyo].
